Full Metal Panic! is one of the 2000s most iconic mecha anime. It is a brilliant action series that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats for several reasons, especially when it comes to Sousuke and Chidori's relationship.

Sousuke and Chidori's adventures in Full Metal Panic!'s main series are often heart-stopping battle scenes, but the spinoff shows them in a new light. Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu puts this intense series through the lens of a romantic comedy, and it pays off well. It is chaotic in the best way possible, offering viewers a new side of Full Metal Panic!'s lead duo.

11 Tomo-chan Is A Girl!

Tomo-chan is a Girl! is the breakout romantic comedy of the 2023 winter anime season. The series stars Tomo Aizawa, a tomboy who finally gains the courage to confess to her childhood friend Jun. However, Jun is very dense and mistakes her confession of love as a declaration of gratitude for their friendship.

Tomo is equally dense and thinks it is because Jun sees her as "one of the guys," which viewers gradually realize is false. Jun is head over heels for Tomo, but does not know how to express it. Even though Tomo's friends have tried changing her personality and appearance, Jun would never change a thing about Tomo.

10 Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun

Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun is a humorous anime full of misunderstandings and romantic tension. When Chiyo Sakura tries to confess her feelings to Umetaro Nozaki, he misinterprets her and asks her to be his assistant instead. The rest of the show follows Sakura as she learns about the manga creation process and tries once more to tell Nozaki she likes him.

Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun is hilarious because of Nozaki’s complete disregard for social cues. He takes everything literally and does not seem to notice Sakura’s many hints. Additionally, the anime has a strong supporting cast whose antics make audiences laugh.

9 Kiss Him, Not Me

Kiss Him, Not Me is a reverse harem that has its genre subverted by the protagonist. Kae Serinuma is a hopeless romantic who dreams of her favorite anime boys getting together. Try as they might, the guys who like her have no chance against her active imagination, as she secretly wishes they would date each other instead of her.

7 Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War

Kaguya-sama: Love is War is a relatively recent anime that follows the romantic cat-and-mouse game between Student Council President Miyuki Shirogane and Vice President Kaguya Shinonmiya. Neither wants to be the first to admit their feelings for fear of rejection and pity. The anime focuses on each of their hilarious attempts to get the other to confess first — to varying degrees of success.

One of the most humorous aspects of Kaguya-sama: Love is War — especially in the English dub — is the narrator’s commentary. Ian Sinclair shines as the overly invested voice of the story. Plus, he commentates on the outcome of each persuasion attempt. The supporting cast is utilized to great effect, as they are both helpers and foils in the two main characters’ plans. Kaguya-sama: Love is War is an uproarious delight from beginning to end.

6 Tsuredure Children

Tsuredure Children is a quasi-anthology series that follows the romantic endeavors of a slew of high school couples. While some are already together, others are just getting started in this hilarious anime. Though the time audiences spend with each couple is limited, each pairing makes such an impact that fans will be rolling on the ground with laughter.

One of the biggest appeals of Tsuredure Children is how relatable it is. Even if audiences didn't date in high school, many of them can attest to the difficulties of romance — especially at a young age. Tsuredure Children is a hysterical and romantic glimpse into young love that will have audiences craving more.

5 Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club follows the antics of the Ouran Host Club as they accept their first girl into their ranks. Although Haruhi Fujioka seems rather blasé about the experience, the boys of the club begin to fall for her one by one.

While this seems like a typical reverse harem, the story goes deeper than fans initially thought. Ouran High School Host Club is not only an enticing romantic comedy, but it is also a spoof of the romantic comedy genre. The meta-humor jokes and cheeky one-liners make this a must-watch.

4 School Rumble

School Rumble is a sidesplitting show about one of the most complicated love triangles in anime. Tenma Tsukamoto falls for Ooji Karasuma after she thinks he saves her from a thug when it was really Kenji Harima. Likewise, Harima has a crush on Tenma and desperately tries to get her to notice him. Karasuma has seemingly no idea about any of this, and zany antics ensue.

Although School Rumble is an older show, it doesn't skimp on the laughs. It is utterly hilarious from start to finish as the two main characters try in vain to get their crushes to notice them. While the ending is rather lackluster, the rest of the show is so funny that anime fans would be remiss in passing by this treasure.

3 My Love Story!!

Takeo Gouda is an intimidating-looking young man with a heart of gold. He falls in love easily, but he never seems to have his feelings reciprocated. However, that changes when he meets Rinko Yamato in My Love Story!! Takeo and Rinko are one of the most wholesome couples in anime as they always support each other, and share so much love and affection.

Additionally, the sheer absurdity of Takeo’s strength and talents makes My Love Story!! a hilarious show. Takeo is a kind soul who always does his best to help others, no matter the consequences. Yamato is not to be overlooked; she is one of the sweetest characters in anime. My Love Story!! is a treat that every viewer should check out.

1 Gamers!

Gamers! is one of the most under-appreciated romantic comedy anime. The story of Keita Amano and Karen Tendou is hilariously awkward and endearing. Additionally, the supporting cast gets mixed into an accidental love triangle that further cements Gamers! as a chaotically humorous must-watch.

The great cast expertly navigates the high-energy and strong emotions of all the teens. The numerous misunderstandings and romantic foils that occur will have audiences laughing until they cry. Plus, as Gamers! has a focus on gaming, it is certain to enthrall any fan who has an affinity for video games.
