A visibly frustrated Dan Campbell spoke to the media after the Lions lost to the Cowboys on Saturday night, following a controversial flag.

Lions QB Jared Goff would lead the Lions down the field for a game-tying touchdown. Dan Campbell decided to go for two, to take the lead. They ran a play-action throw to Lions tackle Taylor Decker, but refs ruled that he hadn’t declared, and wiped away the try.

Video replay shown on ESPN shows Goff telling Decker to report himself, and then shows Decker walking up to a referee, and then walking back to the huddle.

After the game, Lions coach Dan Campbell was visibly tense, telling reporters that he was told only No. 70 Dan Skipper reported, despite the video evidence.

“70 reported, 68 didn’t, we threw it to 68, that was the explanation,” Campbell said, clearly furious and pacing around the podium. “I don’t wanna talk about it.” He also said he told the refs they could run plays like that in their pre-game meeting.

Decker told reporters after the game that he “did exactly what coach told me to do. Went to the ref, said report.”

“Not much more I can add to it, just see the video evidence,” Decker added.

Also after the game, Skipper said he did not report as eligible, despite what the refs said.

Goff said, “What I do know, and I don’t know if I’ll get fined for this. But I do know that Decker reported. I do know that Dan Skipper did not. And I do know that they said that Dan Skipper did.”
