SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT

Trafalgar D. Law has always been one of One Piece's biggest heartthrobs and a new fan animation video has finally made him the protagonist of his very own slice-of-life series. Law was quick to steal hearts ever since his introduction on Sabaody and now fans can get a taste of what a spin-off centered around Law and the Heart Pirates would be like.

Fans were even more smitten with Law when he was re-introduced on Punk Hazard and his endearing relationship with his crew has only made him all the more likable. This left fans wanting to see more of the Heart Pirates' adventures and this amazing fan animation video by Youtuber @shinto_s gives fans exactly that.

Created in honor of Law's birthday, this colorful original video re-imagines the Heart Pirate crew as if they were the protagonists of their own lighthearted slice-of-life anime. The animation style and bright colors give the whole video the feel of a romantic comedy straight out of the shojo genre, putting a refreshingly new spin on One Piece's most beloved side characters.

Law and the Heart Pirates Get An Adorable New Fan Edit

Bepo grimacing in One Piece

Animated to the song "Love Trap" by MAISONdes, the video features the Heart Pirates dancing and striking cute poses around a very characteristically stoic Law. The video also features beyond-adorable chibi versions of the Heart Pirate crew walking around the globe in typical anime-opening fashion and a few scenes of Law in female form, which recently made its debut in the anime in episode #1093. Moreover, the video also includes a brief scene of Law and his younger self facing teasing his backstory as anime openings usually tend to.

Although illustrated from scratch, the video is extremely well-animated and stays faithful to the original characters and designs despite experimenting with different colors and art styles. All the characters' movements are fluid and the dance steps also appear to be well planned out. Every scene transitions to the next flawlessly and @shinto_s' illustration skills and their passion for One Piece and Law is apparent from the very start.

The Heart Pirates Deserve A Spin-Off

While the Straw Hats are given a new spin in fan art and edits very often, it is certainly a nice change of pace to see another beloved crew get the spotlight for once. Law and the Heart Pirates arguably have one of the best crew dynamics in One Piece after the Straw Hats and would be more than deserving of a spin-off. The little screen time they do get in the One Piece films and the anime always tend to be incredibly entertaining and this fan animation video only proves how fun a slice-of-life centered around the Heart Pirates could be.

That said, the current fate of the Heart Pirates is still undecided after their ill-fated battle against Blackbeard. Though it may be hard for fans of the crew to cope at the moment, fan art and animations such as these are an excellent way to bide time until Law and the Heart Pirates make their return in One Piece.

One Piece is available from Netflix and Crunchyroll.

Created by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is a multimedia franchise that began as a manga series and follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as led by Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy, an enthusiastic pirate with a thirst for adventure, is afflicted by a mysterious curse that gives him various powers he uses to protect himself and his friends. The manga eventually gave way to the anime series, with the two being some of history's longest-running anime and manga series. Along with over fifty video games made over the years, the series entered the live-action world with Netflix's 2023 adaptation.
