Marcus Rashford had Manchester United fans dreaming for a while, but then in an instance, it all came crashing down.

The magic of Phil Foden downed Eric ten Hag’s side, as Manchester City secured yet another derby day win against their bitter rivals.

For Phil Foden’s second goal, Paul Scholes was pretty unhappy with the roles of Manchester United midfielder Casemiro and goalkeeper, Andre Onana.

The legendary midfielder labelled the defending from Casemiro as ‘criminal’, whilst calling the man between the sticks ‘weak’ for not being able to save the shot, as he told Premier League Productions (03/03/24 at 5:50 pm).

Even though Marcus Rashford opened the scoring with a thunderous effort, the home team still dominated the game and the possession.

Manchester United sat back, tried to absorb the pressure, plug the gaps and then try to break.

Whilst that worked for the first half an hour, it soon started to become difficult for the away team and it was a case of when not if Pep Guardiola’s side were going to score.

As soon as Manchester City equalised, you just knew what was coming, but Paul Scholes slammed Casemiro and Andre Onana for the roles they played in Phil Foden’s second goal.

Casemiro and Andre Onana

“Look at Casemiro getting one-two’d,” said Scholes about Foden running off Casemiro’s shoulder. “The defensive holding midfield player, that’s criminal.

“The gap shouldn’t be that far and Casemiro, with the experience he has got, he shouldn’t be getting one-two’d in that position.

“The goalkeeper has to do better as well. It’s such a soft weak hand there. It’s not a hard shot.”
