2024 is set to be a pretty big year for RPGs, with the likes of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and Avowed all queued up to launch, but what about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf? There have been a number of hints that BioWare’s latest may be nearing completion, but when might we actually get our hands on it?

Well, on the latest episode of Jeff Grubb’s Game Mess podcast, he let slip that EA and the devs working away on the game up at BioWare in Canada are “pretty confident” they can still deliver the game later this year and that a summer reveal is likely…

“I suspect [Dragon Age] will probably pop up this summer. I don't know exactly when it will be shown is the real answer. I assume it will be shown sometime this summer, could happen at any time though. It will be released this year, last I heard. They're pretty confident about that. Doesn't mean it's a guarantee, could slip, but right now, internally, they expect to release it later this year.”

Of course, take this with a grain of salt, but this lines up with BioWare's own statements, as they’ve previously said we’d finally see Dragon Age: Dreadwolf sometime this summer. BioWare revealing the new Dragon Age then releasing it only months later may seem odd, but this may be a case where they don’t want to overexpose the game prior to launch. This is also an increasingly common tact for EA-published games – they only showed first gameplay of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor in December of 2022 and launched the game just a few months later.

Haven’t been keeping up with Dragon Age: Dreadwolf? Here’s how BioWare has described its world…

“We stand on the precipice of great change. This is a world brimming with stories and characters waiting to meet you. The fate of this world teeters on the edge of a knife. In past games, you only got to see a slice of the world. In Origins, it was Ferelden—a land ravaged by war and Dark Spawn. In II, it was Kirkwall and its locales—festering with corruption and a dark underworld. And in Inquisition, you ventured across much of Orlais—facing down political intrigue as often as combat.

This time, however, much more of Thedas is yours to see. The desolate, beautiful badlands of the Anderfels with curtains of distant mountainous spires. The twisting canals and gleaming towers of Antiva, where Crows may lurk in any shadow. The turquoise seas of Rivain with its rushes of greenery and hardy sea-faring people. And of course, there’s more.”

Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is coming to PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. What do you think? Looking forward to finally laying eyes on the game?
