BBC presenter Lukwesa Burak has shared a horrific incident that left her son bleeding.

The broadcaster, 50, keeps her private life largely out of the spotlight but took to social media on Friday to share how ‘heartbroken’ she was after the vile attack, saying it was racially motivated.

She wrote: ‘I’m on my knees. Broken.

‘WHAT IS BLOODY WRONG WITH THE HUMAN RACE?

‘My son was attacked for being a n***** in Melbourne, the worst pain in the world.

‘KICKED IN THE HEAD. I CANT SCREAM LOUD ENOUGH.’

She added in the comments: ‘My baby’s face was covered in blood. Heartbroken. WHY? WHY?’

Lukwesa’s colleagues and followers rushed to the comments to share their support with Jeremy Vine show guest and activist Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu writing: ‘OMG! Kicked in the head?! I’m so sorry Lukwesa! Is he ok? I hope the racist bastards are caught! I’m screaming!’

TV star India Willoughby said: ‘So sorry. What is wrong with people? Sending love – hope he’s ok x.’

BBC presenter Anjana Gadgil added: ‘I’m so sorry Lukwesa, this is horrible. Thoughts with you and your son x.’

Lukwesa shares few images of her family on social media, but in recent months, posted beaming pictures as a proud mother.

She wrote in one: ‘I know I embarrass him, non-stop but my Baby makes me so proud. Not sure where 20 years have gone!’

In another, posted in October, she dropped her son off at the airport, writing: ‘The greatest love you can give your child is to let them go…. ❤️💔❤️💔.’

The newsreader, who last year went viral for a BBC blunder, was formerly a weather presenter and is a regular broadcaster on Newsday.

She moved from the BBC to Sky News in 2006, before relocating to eNews Channel Africa in South Africa in 2012, moving with her family as her husband had been offered a new job.

She rejoined Sky News in 2012, before moving to Al Jazeera English in Doha, and returning to BBC News in May 2016.
