Whether an actor's voice brings up feelings of nostalgia or surprises viewers with its flexible range, many of these behind-the-screen actors have been at it for most of their lives. This list is a combo pack of some of the most well-known as well as some up-and-coming voice actors in the industry who are still actively working on projects today.
10 Eric Vale
Don’t ever mess with the cook when he’s out of the kitchen. Vale has been acting since he was 12. According to his bio, he worked to make acting ends meet until he finally landed the role of Trunks on Dragon Ball Z (1999) with Funimation.
Some of his most iconic roles include Yuki Sohma from Fruits Basket, Solf J. Kimblee from Full Metal Alchemist, Sanji from One Piece, Loke from Fairy Tail, and Freid Bathory from Seraph of the End. His most recent roles have been as Fanzell Kruger from Black Clover, Arthur Boyle from Fire Force, and Nuno from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury.
9 Wendee Lee
Moon Kingdom royalty earns itself well-deserved attention. This California-born voice actor has been involved with dance and theater since she was a teenager. Lee’s first anime voice-over role was as Vanessa Leeds from Robotech in the early 1980s. She has since been the ADR voice director and director on various projects.
Her most iconic roles include Bulma from Dragon Ball, Chris from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket, Moegi Kazamatsuri from Naruto, Faye Valentine from Cowboy Bebop, Kirigakure Shura from Blue Exorcist, and Queen Serenity from Sailor Moon.
Recently, she has voiced Clara Magnolia in Violet Evergarden: The Movie (2021), Nakai in the anime movie Belle (2022), and continued the role of Moegi in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
8 Cherami Leigh
She’s the fire and the desire. That’s right. She’s Venus, baby. This Dallas-born Texan has been acting since she was 6 years old. Starting her career off in live-action, she starred as a child actress in Finding North, Temple Grandin, and Holiday in Your Heart. Leigh later voice-over ABC Radio’s promotions and advertising on Radio Disney for a decade.
Since then, she has worked for anime studios such as Funimation, Band Zoom! Entertainment, and Viz Media. Her roles include Natsumi Hinata from Sgt. Frog, Patty Thompson from Soul Eater, Suzuha Amane from Steins; Gate, Asuna Yuuki from Sword Art Online, and Minako Aino/Sailor Venus from Sailor Moon (Viz Media’s dub). Her most recent roles have been as Amateratsu from Fire Force, Kotaro Satо̄ from Kotaro Lives Alone, and Kanami from The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting.
7 Christopher Sabat
Sabat’s repertoire definitely goes above and beyond—plus ultra! He has been an active voice actor since 1998 and continues to act, direct, write scripts, and line produce work for Funimation and the gaming studio OkraTron5000.

He has voiced several characters, such as Vegeta and Piccolo (and others) from Dragon Ball Z, Elfman Strauss from Fairy Tail, Kitz Woermann from Attack on Titan, Yami Sukehiro from Black Clover, and Toshinori "All Might" Yagi from My Hero Academia. As of late, he has voiced: Cerberus’s true form from Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card; Snake from Vinland Saga, and Vim from Mobile Suit Gundman: The Witch from Mercury.
6 J. Michael Tatum
J. Michael Tatum is simply one hell of a voice actor because he has worked with Funimation, OkraTron 5000, and Bang Zoom! Entertainment. Tatum has been in the voice acting industry since 2004. Since then, he has also been ADR director of shows such as Corpse Princess and ADR script writer of shows such as Free! Iwatobi Swim Club.
His most notable roles are Kyoya Ootori from Ouran High School Host Club, Sebastian Michaelis in Black Butler, Erwin Smith from Attack on Titan, and Tenya Iida from My Hero Academia. As of late, he has voiced Jean-Jacques Chastel in The Case Study of Vanitas, Tsukasa Jinguuji in Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout, and Ugetsu Murata from Given.
5 Zeno Robinson
As one of the more recent rising stars of the voice acting industry, Robinson isn’t afraid to spread his wings. Initially starring as Cartoon Network’s Ben 10: Alien Force as Alan Albright/Heatblast in 2008, Robinson found his footing in the anime industry as Superalloy Blackluster from One-Punch Man.
Later, he’d go on to play Ogun Montgomery in Fire Force, Brawler in Akudama Drive, Shuji Hanma in Tokyo Revengers, Vanitas in The Case Study of Vanitas, and Keigo “Hawks” Takami in My Hero Academia.
In 2021, he received the Best Voice Actor Performance (English) at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards. Most recently, Robinson has voiced Taichi Kabasawa from Odd Taxi and Tai Kamiya in the most recent Digimon Adventure.
4 Johnny Yong Bosch
Not only is he a martial artist on and off the screen, but Bosch is also a talented voice actor who has worked specifically with Funimation. His first ever role was Shotaro Kaneda from the anime film Akira (2001).
From then on, he’d go on to voice Vash the Stampede from Trigun (original and 2023), Kiba from Wolf’s Rain, Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach, Lelouch vi Britannia from Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, Yukio Okumura from Blue Exorcist, Kei Nagai from Ajin: Demi-Human, and Shōsaku Katsura from Bungo Stray Dogs. As of late, he has played the role of Giyu Tomioka from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba, Bam from Tower of God, and Yatora Yaguchi from Blue Period.
3 Monica Rial
Next up to the plate is the one and only Monica Rial. After studying acting at the University of Houston, she struck voice-acting deals with Funimation, ADV, and Seraphim Digital/Sentai Filmworks. She has been voice acting since 1999 and ADR script writing since the early 2000s.

Her most iconic roles include Maya Ibuki in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Lyra in Fullmetal Alchemist, Amy Yeager in Detective Conan, Renge Hoshakuji in Ouran High School Host Club, Michiko Milandro in Michiko to Hatchin, and Tsubaki Nakatsukasa.
Recently, she has voiced Tsuyu Asui/Froppy from My Hero Academia, Mitty from Made in Abyss, and Lelia Mofur in Log Horizon.
2 Jerry Jewell
Whether it be a star’s performance on ice or a certain orange cat’s stroll along gable rooftops, Jewell is the man behind some of the most beloved anime characters across genres. He has been voice-acting under Funimation since 2001 and became an ADR director for the same company in 2013.
Jewell is known for: Kyo Sohma from Fruits Basket (original and 2019 reboot), Victor Nikiforov from Yuri!! On Ice, Jimmy Kudo from Case Closed, Natsuno Yuuki/Koide from Shiki, Lau from Black Butler, Kusuo Saiki from The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., and Principal Nezu from My Hero Academia. His most recent roles include Haro from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, Hunter from The Girl from the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún, and Kyōya Hashiba from Remake Our Life!.
1 Laura Bailey
Playing characters both on the seductive and sweet side, Bailey’s talents know no bounds. Spotted by fellow voice actor Kent Williams, Bailey started working for Funimation as Kid Trunks from Dragon Ball Z from 1999 to 2003.
She has since voiced Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket, Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist (and Brotherhood), Amber from Darker than Black, Tier Harribel from Bleach, and Maka Albarn from Soul Eater. Emily/Glitter Lucky from Glitter Force, Maka Albarn from Soul Eater Not!, and Tohru Honda from Fruits Basket’s 2019 reboot have been her most recent anime-related roles. She is also the player and voice of Vex’ahlia “Vex” Vessar from The Legend of Vox Machina.
