One of the most annoying tropes in anime is fake-out deaths. A fake-out death happens when a character dies—or fans think they have died—but they somehow come back to life. Although this can be a happy moment for fans to witness their favorite charcter come back to life, it can also be quite annoying when it's overdone.

Having too many fake-out death doesn't make an anime bad one. In fact, some of the most-watched series feature more than a few fake-out deaths. However, there are many anime that abuse the use of fake-out deaths.

The Pokémon series likes to play around with the fake-out death cliché quite often with Team Rocket and Ash. Team Rocket is the reoccurring villains in the series who have somehow survived their hot air balloon being blown up by Pikachu's thunderbolt more than a few times.

Ash himself has even been killed a few times in the Pokémon movies but he is always revived. The first time Ash dies, he was revived thanks to the tears of the Pokémon who mourned his death.

Seven Deadly Sins is another series that is guilty of abusing the fake-out death trope quite often. One of the most extreme cases happens in Season One of the series. In this case, Helbram dies a total of three times but is revived each time in order to keep fighting.

Another time when fans for sure thought a character died was when Veronica stepped on a land mine. She should have been dead but was miraculously healed thanks to Elizabeth.

The main problem fans have with Dr. Stone is the number of fake deaths that the series likes to throw in for the shock value. One of the most shocking deaths in the series was when Senku was killed by Tsukasa but was brought back to life with the piece of petrifaction that was on his neck.

Petrification has the ability to revive the dead, meaning that the series can have its fair share of deaths without any real consequences.

Dio is an evil person at heart who has been killed by the Joestars over and over again only to be brought back to life. Although Dio is the most known to get the fake-out death treatment, there are still other characters in the series that this happens to as well, including the Joestars.

The Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise has some of the worst cases of fake-out deaths in anime. During Season 3 of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, the entire cast dies only to be brought back at the end because it was stated that they were just trapped in another dimension.

However, his hollow took over his dying body in order to keep them both alive to protect Orihime. This is not the only fake-out death that happens in the series, as a number of characters seem to meet their demise only for them to somehow survive.

Despite being a magical girl series, Sailor Moon surprisingly features a large amount fake-out deaths. The biggest example of the fake-out death trope in the series was at the end of the first season when each of the Sailor Scouts meets their demise in a tragic way only for them to be completely fine in the next season.

This also happens once again during the final seasons. Throughout the series, multiple Sailor Guardians are killed and revived.

One fake-out death that was completely brushed under the rug was when Zoro received several deadly slices from Hawkeye Mihawk. Fans thought he was a goner for sure. However, Zoro magically made a comeback and survived these brutal wounds, no question asked.

Fairy Tail is the anime that gets the most criticism and memes about fake-out deaths in the series. Multiple characters in the series who were thought to be dead magically come back to life.

One example is the character Lisana, who was killed and even had her body buried before being brought back into the series from another dimension. It was even revealed that the main character Natsu died long ago and was brought back to life by his brother Zeref.
